Steven Schreck
Head Coach/Owner of SST, Retired Battalion Chief, Florence Fire Department
Steven Schreck is the Head Coach and Owner of Schreck’s Strength and Speed Training (SST), a facility dedicated to developing elite athletes and fostering lifelong fitness. With over 25 years of experience, Steven has worked with hundreds of athletes across multiple sports, from high school and club teams to NCAA collegiate competitors. He has personally trained over 100 NCAA collegiate athletes across 14 different sports and provided private training for numerous club sports teams. His coaching has helped lead Cincinnati-area high school teams to a collective eight state championships, and individual athletes to considerable personal awards and recognitions, a testament to his commitment to athletic excellence.
Before founding SST in 2019, Steven served 25 years in the fire service, retiring in 2021 from the City of Florence Fire/EMS, where he oversaw the department’s Fitness/Wellness program for two decades. During this time, he also designed and taught two core fitness and wellness classes for the Fire Service Technologies Associate Degree Program at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (2002–2022). From 2007 to 2017, Steven was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Cincinnati LaSalle High School, where he laid the foundation for many athletes’ successes.
Steven’s credentials include certifications from CrossFit (Level 1 Trainer), The Cooper Institute (Master Fitness Specialist), the American Kettlebell Club, and IAFC/IAFF/ACE Peer Fitness. He is also a Licensed Paramedic, highlighting his diverse expertise in health and wellness. His professional journey is complemented by thousands of hours of coaching, leadership, and mentorship experience, ensuring that his training programs are as comprehensive as they are effective.
As a coach, Steven emphasizes a holistic approach to athlete development, tailoring programs to maximize each client’s genetic potential. His philosophy extends beyond physical training, aiming to build confidence, resilience, and mental strength. Whether working with elite athletes, weekend warriors, or individuals focused on longevity, Steven prioritizes understanding his clients on a personal level to design impactful training plans.
Steven is an alumnus of LaSalle High School and the University of Cincinnati. He resides on the West Side of Cincinnati with his wife Robin and their four daughters. A lifelong athlete, Steven continues to compete in endurance events, including a Full Ironman 140.6 and multiple Spartan Races (5K, 10K, 21K, 50K). He is a former Firefighter Combat Challenge State and National Champion and remains active in competitive racing.
What Makes You Passionate About Coaching?
"I can’t imagine myself doing anything else. My career in the fire service allowed me to work with the community, serving others and solving problems. Leslie Green
Nutritionist/Owner, Queen City Integrative Nutrition
Leslie brings a unique combination of personal and professional experience and academic training to Queen City Integrative Nutrition. She holds a BA from Wittenberg University and an MBA from Xavier University, and has received advanced training in integrative nutrition from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and Harvard Medical School of Executive Education.
Leslie’s passion for nutrition stems from over a decade of personal research and experience addressing complex health challenges such as gastroesophageal cancer, GERD, autoimmune disorders, severe food allergies, hypertension, osteoporosis, obesity, pre-diabetes, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, IBD, IBS, leaky gut, PCOS, and hormone imbalances. Her journey highlighted the significant gaps in the conventional healthcare system regarding the critical role of nutrition in achieving and maintaining optimal health.
A former NCAA athlete, Leslie understands the unique demands of competitive sports and enjoys working with young athletes to integrate nutrition into their training for elite performance. Her approach combines evidence-based practices with a compassionate understanding of each client’s unique needs and goals.
At Queen City Integrative Nutrition, Leslie’s mission is to empower individuals and athletes to achieve their fullest potential through personalized, functional nutrition strategies. Whether it’s optimizing athletic performance or overcoming chronic health challenges, Leslie is committed to transforming lives through the power of food and education.
Originally from north-central Ohio, Leslie has been a Cincinnati resident since 2010. She resides in Delhi with her husband Chris, and their children Cora and Clark. She loves to stay active and to travel as much as possible, especially to the mountains, and to watch her children discover their own interests as they grow.
What makes you passionate about coaching?
“My passion for nutrition was ignited through my own journey of overcoming gastroesophageal disorders and autoimmune disease. Additionally, a family history of gastroesophageal cancer and severe food allergies compelled me to delve deeper into research and education. Determined to identify and address the root causes of these challenges—both for myself and those I care about—I discovered that nutrition is the critical missing key. I am deeply fascinated by the science of nutrition and the remarkable intelligence of the human body. This passion drives me to help others optimize their health, performance, and overall well-being.”
What is your favorite aspect of coaching?
“One of the most rewarding aspects of coaching is witnessing the profound transformation my clients experience—whether they are everyday individuals or elite athletes—when they begin to fuel their bodies properly with high-quality nutrition. Seeing them realize that they do not have to accept fatigue, discomfort, or declining health as inevitable is incredibly fulfilling. The empowerment that comes from taking control of their health and performance is truly life-changing, and I am honored to be part of that journey.”

Ryan Born
Coach at SST, Assistant Chief of Operations, Florence Fire Department
Ryan Born serves as the Assistant Chief of Operations at the Florence Fire Department, where he has dedicated over 20 years to serving his community. Ryan’s lifelong commitment to athletics spans from his childhood involvement in soccer, baseball, and football to excelling in high school wrestling due to his agility and skill as a smaller athlete.
After high school, Ryan joined the fire service, where he continued his athletic training. For over two decades, he has collaborated with Steven Schreck in both the fire service and educational settings, focusing on training athletes and firefighters to achieve their utmost potential. Currently, he oversees the fitness and wellness program initially established by Steven, continuously striving to advance the department’s goals and enhance firefighters’ performance and health.
Ryan holds certifications from CrossFit (Level 1 Trainer, 2020 – present) and ACE Peer Fitness. He plays a pivotal role in training and recruiting for Cincinnati State’s Fire Service Technologies degree program. As a licensed paramedic for the city of Florence, Ryan takes immense pride in promoting the department’s overall health and wellness.
In addition to his work with firefighters, Ryan trains elite soccer teams in the area, specializing in cardiovascular and agility training. His emphasis on long-term training habits helps young athletes achieve sustainable performance enhancements. As a coach who has navigated multiple injuries, Ryan prioritizes proper lifting form to prevent injuries, building a strong foundation of strength and coordination to extend athletes’ careers.
Ryan resides on the west side of Cincinnati with his wife and three sons, who all compete in club soccer at elite levels. He is an alumnus of Elder High School and Cincinnati State Community College. In his leisure time, Ryan is an avid enthusiast of mountain biking, rock climbing, and both water and snow skiing, and he occasionally participates in adventure and Spartan races.
What makes you passionate about coaching?
“My passion for coaching stems from witnessing the tangible progress athletes make over time. There’s a profound satisfaction in facilitating a training environment where athletes inspire and elevate each other’s performances. This collaborative growth not only strengthens their physical abilities but also fosters a resilient team spirit.”
What is your favorite part of coaching?
“My favorite part of coaching is teaching the fundamentals of proper lifting form to young athletes. This instruction is critical as it lays the groundwork for a lifetime of safe and effective fitness practices. Ensuring athletes practice correct lifting techniques is essential for their development and helps prevent injuries, allowing them to pursue their sports safely and confidently both on and off the field.”

Ella Klusman
Coach at SST
Ella Klusman is a coach at SST, with a lifelong passion for fitness and athletic performance. Her journey in sports began at an early age, with soccer playing a central role in her development. Competing at various levels, she cultivated a strong foundation in teamwork, discipline, and the pursuit of physical excellence.
During her high school career at Mother of Mercy and Mercy McAuley High School, Ella played varsity soccer and served as team captain. Following the conclusion of her competitive soccer career, she recognized the importance of staying active for both her physical and mental well-being. This realization led her to immerse herself further in the fitness world, embracing new challenges and pushing her own limits.
Over the past eight years, Ella has been an integral part of the SST community, continuously refining her expertise in functional fitness and athletic performance. Her dedication to mastering the principles of consistency, hard work, and recovery has allowed her to evolve as both an athlete and a coach. In 2025, she became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, equipping her with the skills to inspire and guide others on their fitness journeys.
In addition to her coaching role, Ella is a Registered Nurse, currently working in the Emergency Department at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Her experience in a fast-paced, high-stakes medical environment has reinforced her appreciation for teamwork and the power of collaboration. These experiences have further shaped her coaching philosophy, emphasizing the importance of community and support in achieving success, both individually and collectively.
What drives your passion for coaching?
"Throughout my athletic career, I learned that the success of both the team and the individual athlete is deeply influenced by the support and guidance of a coach. Having a coach who genuinely cares can make all the difference in an athlete’s performance and personal growth. I’ve been fortunate to have incredible coaches who empowered me, boosted my confidence, and helped me grow. That’s why I’m passionate about coaching—because I want to provide that same encouragement and mentorship to others."
What is your favorite aspect of coaching?
"As a coach at SST, my goal is to share my knowledge, passion, and experience to help athletes reach their full potential—both physically and mentally. My coaching approach is built on the principles of teamwork, perseverance, and the belief that everyone has the ability to improve when given the right guidance and support. Witnessing athletes recognize their own capabilities and achieve their goals is the most rewarding part of coaching."

Izzy Accurso
Coach at SST
Izzy Accurso is a coach at SST, combining her passion for strength training, athleticism, and teamwork to help clients reach their full potential. Izzy’s journey into fitness began with her love of soccer, where she played club soccer in grade school and became a four-year varsity player and captain at Roger Bacon High School.
After high school, Izzy chose a different path, shifting her focus to the fire service. She obtained her Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and Firefighter I & II certifications from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. Izzy joined the Green Township Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT in 2023 and earned her Associate of Applied Science in Fire Service Technology in 2024. She plans to attend paramedic school in 2025 to further her career in emergency services.
Izzy’s decision to pursue the fire service was inspired by the physical and teamwork demands of the job. To prepare, she began training at SST to build the strength and cardio necessary for firefighting. This experience sparked her love for strength training and CrossFit, teaching her how to overcome both mental and physical challenges. In 2025, Izzy became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, allowing her to share her knowledge and passion for fitness with others.
As a coach, Izzy is committed to fostering an environment where clients feel supported, challenged, and inspired to push past their limits. She specializes in helping individuals overcome obstacles, build confidence, and achieve goals both inside and outside the gym.
A proud alumna of Roger Bacon High School and Cincinnati State, Izzy grew up on the West Side of Cincinnati and now resides in Over-the-Rhine with her cat, Findlay. She enjoys competing in Tough Mudder and Spartan races, as well as playing recreational soccer to stay active and challenge herself.
What makes you passionate about coaching?
"My experiences in athletics, training at this gym, and my time in the fire service have shown me how much a good leader or coach can influence the attitude and performance of a team or an individual athlete. Being able to provide that kind of positive impact drives my passion for coaching."
What is your favorite part of coaching?
"I love training because it allows me to prove to myself time and time again that I’m capable of overcoming hard things. I love watching and helping others push their limits too. My favorite part of coaching is creating an environment where people feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow. Watching someone gain confidence in themselves and carry that strength outside of the gym is incredibly rewarding."

Katie Locasto
Coach at SST
Katie Locasto is a dedicated and accomplished coach at SST, bringing her passion for fitness, mental resilience, and teamwork into everything she does. Her journey into the world of fitness began in high school, where she joined the swim team and served as team captain in her senior year. During this time, a ride-along experience with the Cincinnati Fire Department ignited her passion for the fire service. Captivated by the dynamic teamwork and problem-solving required to help others, Katie pursued her Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash and joined the Colerain Township Fire Department in 2017.
Katie’s love for fitness deepened as she discovered weightlifting. She quickly realized that building strength in the gym translated directly into excelling in her demanding career. Her passion for fitness eventually led her to become a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, and she is currently working to bring a Firefighter Peer Fitness Trainer course to her fire department.
Since 2019, Katie has served as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic with the Delhi Township Fire Department. During her time there, she has championed initiatives promoting both physical fitness and mental health. Katie leads the department’s participation in events such as the American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb and the 9/11 Stair Climb, organizing training and preparation for both. As part of the department’s peer support team, Katie has attended numerous seminars and lectures on mental health and wellness. Her innovative mindset led her to implement the Therapy Dog Program at DTFD, with her therapy dog, Ember, providing emotional support both on duty and at the gym.
Katie earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science and Emergency Management from the University of Cincinnati in 2022. Originally from Loveland, Ohio, she now resides on the west side of Cincinnati with her boyfriend, Austin, and Ember. Katie is passionate about empowering others, particularly women, to embrace physical challenges, recognize their strengths, and overcome their weaknesses.

Katie’s passion for coaching lies in fostering longevity through physical fitness and mental resilience. She firmly believes that unlocking one’s potential requires doing hard and uncomfortable things. Her experience in the fire service offers a unique perspective on coaching, emphasizing urgency, responsibility, and the critical skills required in high-stakes situations. Whether training recruits or coaching athletes, Katie is committed to building confidence, toughness, and communication skills that extend far beyond the gym.
What is your favorite aspect of coaching?
Katie’s favorite part of coaching is witnessing the growth and transformation her clients achieve—both physically and mentally. She finds immense joy in helping individuals push through their limits, overcome mental blocks, and experience the pride of success. The sense of accomplishment, combined with the supportive camaraderie of peers, creates an inspiring and motivating environment that Katie strives to nurture in every session.
